TCL Packaging increases print capacity to meet demand

TCL Packaging now has three Uteco presses running side by side to achieve increased print capacity at its new site in Stafford Park, Telford.

The company purchased of a new Onyx 808GL central impression flexographic printing press this year and installed it at the new site in August along with another Uteco press purchased just three years earlier.

However, to be able to manage high levels of demand for its printed packaging films, the company continued to run a third, earlier Uteco press at its previous site in Horton Wood for a short period to ensure that customer delivery demands were met.

Dean Langford Production Direction explains “the demand for our printed films has never been higher which presented a unique set of problems when it came to moving site. Downtime was not an option so we ran parallel print processes in two sites to ensure we didn’t let anyone down. Eventually we were able to make the final move to bring all our capacity together”

With each new press, TCL extends both its print capacity and production efficiencies. The latest flexographic press provides increased efficiencies through in-line slitting of large diameter packaging films reels removing the need for post processing.  It has an extended drying tunnel for faster speeds, shorter run down times and automatic adjustment of impression pressure to eradicate print errors and minimise film waste.
